They should keep Rantanen on the second line for a few games just to see if it could work. I have always been a fan of two well-balanced scoring lines.

Was kinda shocking to see that line split up, I was wondering where 96 was figured he might of gotten hurt , but then saw him on the 2nd line. Finally the Avs have good secondary scoring in the likes of Compher and Soderberg etc.
Does anyone have thoughts on what contract Sakic should offer Mikko? I am thinking he is going to get more then Mackinnon for sure. I am not a huge fan of these 8 year deals, but if the player is this young and you feel he is going to be productive then you have to try and lock them up. I want to say around 9 million a year then of course the Avs will lose someone to free agency if they want to keep the top 3 dogs on the team.

Let's not forget about about the Sens top pick in next years draft. They seem to be on pace for a top 5 pick so that should instantly give them a new stud that can suit up asap.

Last point of what does anyone feel about making Grubauer the next Goalie of the Avs. Can they really afford to keep both him and Varlamov ? I am sure it will cost a good price to keep Varly in the fold

Grubauer looked well vs Florida but he has been mainly "so so" this year and I am not sold on him. He has an impressive record but that is largely due to the team in front of him. Varly has been the better goalie this season without question, I would give Varly an extension of 4 years in the $5-$7 Million range.
